About Darren Smith
Darren Smith is a photographer based in Cheshire in the North West of England.
My name is Darren Smith. I have been interested in photography since I was a child, when I began to use a small pocket camera to take simple snaps of events, holidays and other interests.
Whilst at university, I was given an ageing manual Praktica BC1 SLR with a broken 50mm lens. I was inspired to restore this, which led to a passion which continues to this day.
During my early years of taking photographs, people were interested in the shots I was taking and I was often approached for copies. This started off being colleagues and family members and soon expanded to their friends, families and so on. My work was increasingly being displayed in homes and businesses. This increased interest in my work eventually led to my first image sale in 2002 and officially establishing Darren Smith Photography.
Over the years, Darren Smith Photography has expanded to include clients from around the world including in India, China, the United States of America, Qatar, Greece and Germany as well as in his home country, the United Kingdom. Darren Smith Photography has a range of clients which include large multinational companies to small private firms and private individuals.
Darren Smith Photography is not a lone venture, with a dedicated editor and a team of other professionals available to meet the needs of clients. I have also been a mentor to student photographers to in their quest to follow a career in photography and graphic design. This has increased the range of skills available to clients making sure that our clients get exactly what they want.
Several photographs taken by Darren have received awards and accolades from magazines, printed news media and official organisations.
Many images have been published in books, printed news media, advertising media, online promotion and social media. Darren Smith Photography is always looking to the future whilst keeping a foothold in the more traditional methods depending upon the clients need..
I have also had the honour of presenting an exhibition of my images and lecturing at the Manchester Museum on the topic of photography, which was attended by several hundred people. It was presented in association with SEEM in the Kararis theatre.
My passion for photography has pushed me to deliver a number of photography classes on a range of photographic techniques. As a qualified teacher, I enjoy passing on my knowledge to others, which is why I have included the tutorials sections on this website and established photography courses that are available to the public. These courses have always been very successful and have allowed students of all ages to develop their skills beyond what they had before.
I hope you enjoy this site, please feel free to get in touch with me if you want more information.
